Fascism
Originally this meant a supporter of the Italian Fascist movement led by Mussolini, who controlled Italy from 1922 to 1943. Fascism provided much inspiration for Nazism, because the two were politically very similar and because the Fascists gained power first. Fascism is a movement or ideology which promotes militant nationalism and is opposed to democracy. Fascism was a widespread movement throughout Europe in the first half of the Twentieth Century.
