P-T
Rome-Berlin Axis
Called the 'pact of steel', a formal military alliance between Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany was signed by Hitler and Mussolini on 22 May 1939. The two countries had been in close collaboration since 1936. On 1 November 1936, Mussolini had stated that "The Berlin-Rome line is not a diaphragm but rather an axis." On 27 September 1940, their alliance was extended to include Japan.
